A large dark wading bird balances on a wooden fence beside a pond in Berlin.

Iridescent dark plumage and a long red bill stand out against the autumnal reflections of the pond as the bird perches on the fence. A small metal identification ring is visible on one leg; this photograph is part of the Berlin 2026 collection.
